Orange Pekoe refers not to the name of the plant, or flavor, but to the grade of tea leaf used. The name is used to describe a basic, medium-grade black tea consisting of many whole tea leaves of a specific size. In fact, it is commonly used in North America to describe any generic black tea.

This specific Orange Pekoe is a China Keemun, a full-bodied, mellow black tea with a lively bouquet. Keemun is renowned as one of China's finest black teas, carefully crafted with tippy leaves and an aromatic sweetness. When brewed, it produces a dark red colour and makes for a great cup of tea. John’s Juicy Orange Pekoe is every black tea lover’s dream!

Tea Family: Black Tea

The most common family of tea, black tea leaves are allowed to ferment before being dried. It is generally referred to as “black tea” due to the dark color of the tea leaves. The Chinese know it as “red tea” as a result of the reddish color of the brewed/steeped tea. Black tea tends to have a depth of flavor and lacks bitterness.
